And another day draws to a close

Productive.  Time for some videos and to bed.

Did about 15 feet of bed clearing.  These are old plantings that are next to the house and are growing up against the wooden siding.  Clear those out before rainy season. Also cut out some holly bushes - do not like these and they are an invasive weed in this area so better to remove them entirely. Building up a burn pile with all the trimmings. Holly doesn't compost well so burning it and incorporating the biochar in my compost for mulching next spring. Couple more days and the house will be looking a lot better.

The barn swallow nest by my front door has at least two hatchlings - saw them today with their mouths open.  Mom and Dad had gotten used to my comings and goings but now they fly away trying to decoy me.  I will be using another door for the next two weeks until they fledge.  Cute little buggers - I will see if I can get a photo without disturbing the parents.  Needless to say, that nest is going to be taken down this fall and I will be watching out come spring for any attempt at rebuilding.  I love them but having them this close to the door just doesn't make sense.  I'll look into building some nesting platforms for them this winter.

Time to see what the YouTube faeries have brought for my amusement...
