Wind has picked up a bit (usually does around 4PM or so) so not spraying any acid today - do that tomorrow before I do my morning routine. Catch it in the still of the morning. A wonderful discovery for dealing with the horsetails - they are an ancient plant - almost indestructible as no herbicide will touch them. Fascinating life-cycle. They incorporate silica in their cellular structure (same as bamboo) and hydrochloric acid eats right through that. You get immediate visual confirmation within two hours and the plants are deader 'n a doornail in 24. Have not tried vinegar - I know that regular vinegar does not work. I have used higher concentrations with some success for other weeds - put a pan of it in the freezer and the water freezes before the acetic acid.
