Looks like a lot of people did what I did and stopped buying Gillette grooming products. They ran some virtue signalling advertising in January of this year: here, here, here, here and here. Been really happy with my Feather blades and my MERKUR Futur Safety Razor. It took a little time (and a few nicks) to reaquaint myself with using them but they deliver a much smoother shave than the modern razor. Very happy and will not go back.
Anyway, this little bit of financial news caught my eye - from Reuters:
P&G posts strong sales, takes $8 billion Gillette writedown
Procter & Gamble Co’s (PG.N) quarterly revenue and adjusted profit beat Wall Street expectations on Tuesday, sending shares to a record-high even as the world’s No.1 personal goods company took an $8 billion charge on its Gillette shaving business.
Heh - getting woke may play well at the elite cocktail parties in the New York City penthouses but it sure does not resonate with us normals. Another example of living in a bubble. If the top brass at Gilette had publicly owned up to the fact that they stepped on their own damn wedding tackle and apologized, they would have gotten 75% of their customer base back again. Stupid humans.
